Iranian Minister of Defense of Iran, Brigadier General Amir Khatami said that after UN arms embargo on Iran expired, Tehran plans to sell weapons rather than buy them. This was reported by the IRINN TV channel.
“There is no doubt that we will export significantly more weapons than import,” the Iranian Defense Minister said during his speech on television.
He stressed that “since the last year, several countries with which negotiations were held have addressed Tehran on the issue of arms export and import.”
He also noted the achievements of Iran in the military field, despite the fact that the country was under sanctions. According to the minister, “the enemies recognize” that Iran is a “missile power country” that attracts attention and is also “one of the five leaders” of the world in the term of development of drones.
“We produce equipment that is not devoid of quality and has a better corresponding cost compared to competitors,” the Minister of Defense added.
According to him, Iran plans to sell weapons only to those countries that want to use them “for legitimate self-defense.”
