As of December 2, the Ukrainian-German intergovernmental negotiations on cooperation for development for 2020 were held, the Journalist reports with reference to the press service of the Ministry of Energy.
Deputy Energy Minister for European Integration Yaroslav Demchenkov took part in the event. He outlined the current state of cooperation between the two states in the main areas, which were enshrined in the general intergovernmental statement between Ukraine and Germany on the start of an energy partnership, signed in August this year, and also noted that Ukraine is consistent in creating conditions for the transition to a low-carbon economy.
“In 2021, the European Commission will revise the EU legislation in the field of energy and climate, countries will adjust their energy strategies. In the medium and long term, Ukraine will focus on the transition to a low-carbon development model. This also requires a corresponding adjustment of the Energy Strategy until 2035, which is now being revised,” said Yaroslav Demchenkov.
Ukraine hopes for the earliest possible launch of the Multi-Partner Fund – together with German partners, and the “Transformation of Coal Regions” project, which will be implemented by GIZ, and the implementation of the first pilot projects for the transformation of coal monocities.
The development of the basic law of Ukraine on energy efficiency and the National Action Plan on Energy Efficiency for the period up to 2030 have now been completed. Significant progress has been achieved in meeting the EU requirements for the introduction of energy labeling of energy consumer products and the adoption of technical regulations on ecodesign, which establish the requirements for the energy performance of such products.
In addition, the Ministry of Energy is working on to create an internal hydrogen market as an effective green recovery tool. The preparation of a roadmap for the development of hydrogen energy is nearing completion. The next step will be the preparation of the Hydrogen Energy Concept and relevant legislation.
