President of the United States Joe Biden held the first in his post phone conversation with President of the People’s Republic of China Xi Jinping, during which the parties discussed a number of pressing issues. This was reported by the press service of the White House.
The American leader congratulated his colleague and the entire Chinese people on the New Year (lunar calendar). Biden went on to affirm that his priority is to protect the safety, prosperity, health and lifestyle of the American people, and to preserve a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
At the same time, the head of the White House expressed concern over the repression in Hong Kong, Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and Taiwan.
