The chairman of the supervisory board of Ukroboronprom State Concern, Aivaras Abromavicius, believes the company’s reform is possible only after its top manager is replaced.

“The general director of Ukroboronprom, Pavlo Bukin, needs to be replaced, because he is not effective enough. And, as practice shows, he is bound by some old responsibilities. He lost control over enterprises, and they lack of cooperation between those companies, their low productivity, a huge problem with debts, poor interaction with other important stakeholders, and a complete lack of new, breakthrough projects,” Abromavičius said in an interview with Censor.net.

The Ukroboronprom CEO stressed that the main goal for Ukroboronprom is the timely supply of high-quality weapons of the Armed Forces. It is also necessary to increase exports and transform Ukroboronprom to modern company.

“I look at the transformation of other state-owned enterprises, including ones initiated by me as the Minister of Economics, and each time I see that the transformation in these companies is possible only after the replacement of senior staff,” Abromavičius noted.

The official says recruiters have already selected seven candidates for the top post, three of whom are ready to work in a new team.

“The new team is a group of well-known top managers with diverse experience in mechanical engineering, aviation, finance, and personnel management. All participated in successful transformation of unreformed structures – in private business, Prozorro, economy ministry, Ukrgazvydobuvannia. These leaders were selected on the principle that they shall have no conflict of interest, no business in the defense and security sector, and that none of their relatives shall be involved in this sector,” Abromavičius said.

As The Journalist reported, Abromavičius said Ukroboronprom seems outdated, it is necessary to change concern’s specialists.
