Activists staged a rally near the Verkhovna Rada building on Tuesday, May 14, calling for adopting an anti-tobacco bill No.4030a that the Parliament is planned to consider in the first reading for the first time in three years. This is reported by the For Tobacco Free Ukraine coalition on its Facebook page.
Protesters are holding posters with the slogans “Bright shop-windows – a trap for children”, “Protect children”, “Cigarette-case windows – a trap for children”. Information banners are installed on the Constitution Square.
It is expected that the action will be joined by MPs.
Recall that the purpose of the bill number 4030a is to ban the placement of cigarettes in shop windows. In addition, it is planned to improve the protection of Ukrainians from tobacco smoke in public places, in particular, to increase the list of public places where smoking is forbidden.
As The Journalist reported, Kyiv authority may prohibit to lay out cigarettes in shop windows and ticket offices.
