The State Statistics Service of Ukraine reported the decline in Ukraine’s agricultural production accelerated to 18.7% in January-June 2020.
According to Deputy Minister of Economic Development, Trade and Agriculture Taras Vysotskiy, such a drop in production indicators caused by a number of reasons.
“First of all, these are unfavorable weather conditions this year. Rains and floods in the western part of Ukraine, and at the same time, a prolonged drought in the south, destroyed some of the crops. In addition, the conditions were not conducive to the timely collection of agricultural products. A long-term tendency towards a decline in animal husbandry in Ukraine has a significant impact on the indicators,” Interfax-Ukraine quotes the Deputy Minister, as saying.
According to the State Statistics Service, crop production in the H1 of 2020 decreased to 56.8%, livestock production – to 2.2% compared to January-June last year.
Ministry of Economy: Ukraine’s GDP drops by 6% for six months.
