Deputy Minister of Health, Chief State Sanitary Doctor of Ukraine Viktor Liashko has said that almost 55% of coronavirus patients in Ukraine aged between 18 and 49.

“Among people with the disease (coronavirus infection – ed.), those between 30-49 years old are the most ill – almost 38%, between the ages of 18-29 years old – 17%, 50-65 years old – 30. People 65 and older account for only 6% of all cases,” Liashko said.

According to him, the older age group listens to the Ministry of Health and the governmental recommendations, adheres to quarantine measures and limits its mobility, but people aged between 18 and 49 “remain frivolous about the threatening situation that hangs over the whole world”, including Ukraine.

“We took preventive measures much earlier than the other countries. You must adhere to the recommendations. We must not allow the situation that exists in Italy, Spain, and France to be repeated here. Our task is to limit our mobility, limit contacts and isolate ourselves. This is the only preventative measure to save our healthcare system and economy. Without this, no other measures implemented by the government will work,” the deputy minister emphasized.
