Donald Winter, senior US adviser on the reform of the Ukrainian military-industrial complex, will hold talks with officials, the management of Ukroboronprom and a number of enterprises of the concern.
This was reported by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine.
Winter, the former US Secretary of the Navy and head of defense and aerospace enterprises, has the necessary experience and the ability to facilitate decision-making on enhancing bilateral military-technical cooperation and placing orders at Ukrainian defense enterprises.
A US official was appointed to the post of senior adviser on May 28, as part of the active cooperation of the Pentagon with the Ukrainian defense ministry.
One of the strategic objectives for Winter is the all-round assistance in reforming the Ukroboronprom state concern.
Prime Minister Volodymyr Groysman during a meeting with Mr Winter stressed that Ukraine is interested in cooperation with the United States of America in the issue of improving the efficiency and transparency of the national military-industrial complex.
“I hope I can use my 45 years of experience to give advice on the development and reform of Ukraine’s defense sector. Ukraine can be proud of its history and technologies, especially in the military-industrial complex,” added Winter.
However, according to the head of the Temporary Investigation Committee of the Verkhovna Rada on investigation the facts of embezzlement in the Armed Forces of Ukraine and undermining the state’s defense capability, Ivan Vinnyk, Ukroboronprom must be subordinated to the Cabinet of Ministers.
As The Journalist reported, the liquidation of Ukroboronprom is proposed by MPs who hide money in offshores.
