Ukraine’s Ambassador to the United States Valeriy Chaly said that the American engineering company Holtec International plans to produce small nuclear reactors in Ukraine.
The diplomat said this at the press conference on the topic: «Ukraine-US: Why can we talk about a new level of partnership.»
Chaly noted that now a new level of relations between Ukraine and the United States is being considered, because there is a signal «about placing strategic enterprises on the Ukraine’s territory.»
In particular, this is about the fact that Holtec International Company invests into Ukrainian market for the construction of the spent nuclear fuel storage.
According to Chaly, the President of the Holtec Company is ready to start production of small nuclear reactors in two countries – India and Ukraine.
«Among all countries, we have won this right. We plan to jointly produce small nuclear reactors in the future. This is a multi-billion dollar project in Ukraine, which will provide new jobs,» – the ambassador said.
As The Journalist reported, nine nuclear states continue to modernize nuclear weapons systems.
