Court of Appeal calls former President of Ukraine Viktor Yanukovych to arrive at hearing on October 18.

The corresponding agenda was published in the “Uriadoviy Kurer”, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

“The Kyiv Court of Appeal calls Viktor Yanukovych as the accused at 11:00 on October 18,” the message says.

On January 24, 2019, the Obolon District Court of Kyiv in absentia found Yanukovych guilty of treason and complicity in the conduct of an aggressive war, sentencing him to 13 years in prison. However, the court did not recognize the proven guilt of the former president in an encroachment on the territorial integrity of Ukraine.

Yanukovych did not participate in the trial. After fleeing from Ukraine in February 2014, he lives in Russia.

As The Journalist reported, European Court lifts EU sanctions against former Ukrainian president Viktor Yanukovych.
