On the eve of April 18, President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko ordered to ensure the smooth operation of all branches of the state-owned PrivatBank and conduct an assessment of the judges.

The President of Ukraine said this at a meeting of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine in connection with the situation around PrivatBank.

“By our coordinated actions, we must remove any risks, protect the interests of our people, defend our position on the stability of the national currency, and avoid panic that could ensue in the market,” said Poroshenko.

In turn, the head of the National Bank, Yakiv Smolii, expressed surprise at the court decision. He added that “based on the information that was announced at the court session, we can conclude that it is impossible for the previous owners to return the bank.”

“We are doing everything possible to prevent panic. And to prevent informational influence on the stability of the banking system,” said Smolii.

It is noted that the National Bank will appeal to the Ministry of Justice and the High Council of Justice in order to “revise” this judicial decision.

Finance Minister Oksana Markarova also noted that she disagreed with the court, and added that she supports the appeal.

In addition, the Minister of Justice of Ukraine Pavlo Petrenko stressed that “all decisions that had been taken on the bank’s nationalization were legal.”

“We expect for the reasoning part, the full text of the court decision in order to give it a proper legal assessment and appeal,” said Petrenko.

Summing up the meeting, Poroshenko made a proposal to the National Bank – to ensure the smooth operation of all branches of the bank, provide enough cash for these branches and prevent disruptions in operation.

The President instructed the Finance Ministry to analyze the “risks and threats associated with the possible implementation of the court decision” if it enters into force, as well as “calculate possible losses of the state”.

In addition, Poroshenko appealed to the Security Service of Ukraine and the General Prosecutor’s Office with a request to assess, after completion of all necessary judicial procedures, the possibility of opening a criminal case for unjust decisions.

As The Journalist reported, according to the statement of the BPP deputy Antonischak, the court blocked the competition for the selection of the heads of the customs service.
