The Austrian National Council has ratified an agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the Government of Austria on cooperation in the field of education, science and culture, Ukrinform reports.
The decision was taken unanimously. It is expected to significantly intensify the Ukrainian-Austrian cultural cooperation and employ new tools and opportunities.
The Federal Minister for Europe, Integration and Foreign Affairs Oleksandr Schallenberg, who is also the EU Minister for Culture and Media in the transitional government at the Federal Chancellery, emphasized the symbolic nature of this decision in 2019, since it is the Year of Culture Ukraine-Austria.
The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine had ratified the agreement in December 2018. It will enter into force after the Austrian side informs about the completion of all legal procedures needed for its ratification.
