Austria is determined to fully comply with the preliminary agreements with the countries of the European Union fixed in the relevant treaty on the issue of maintaining sanctions against the Russian Federation. Ukraine’s Ambassador to Austria Olexander Scherba is convinced of Austria’s consistent policy in this regard, Espresso news agency reports.
«The Austrians understand that something terrible is happening in Ukraine. They understand that this is a war. They do not feel threatened, but they sympathize to Ukrainians. They are trying to help as a neutral country could help. They help with the rest of Ukrainian children, treat our soldiers who have lost limbs in the war,» – the ambassador said.
On the mitigation of the Austrian sanctions policy on Russia, one can speak on condition that Russia fulfills the corresponding requirements with regard to Ukraine.
The day before, on August 22, Austrian Chancellor Sebastian Kurtz assured that Austria absolutely support the EU’s common position on the Russian Federation.
As The Journalist reported earlier, the Ambassador of Ukraine to Italy, Yevhenii Perelygin, said that the Italian authorities will block the extension of the EU sanctions against Russia.
