On November 26, the Ambassador of Ukraine to the Republic of Belarus Ihor Kizim was summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) of the Republic of Belarus and was handed over a note of protest, the Belarusian Foreign Ministry said.

“The Belarusian side expressed a strong protest in connection with the continuous series of anti-Belarusian actions against the Embassy of the Republic of Belarus in Ukraine and demanded to ensure the security of the diplomatic mission at an appropriate level in accordance with the norms of the Vienna Convention on Diplomatic Relations of April 18, 1961. The Ambassador expressed extreme concern about the inaction of the competent authorities of Ukraine to suppress provocations and the lack of proper response measures to the relevant official requests of the Belarusian side,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The Belarusian diplomatic department believes that the illegal activities of radical elements near the building of the Belarusian diplomatic mission in Kyiv pose an immediate threat to its work, as well as to the safety of the embassy staff and their families.

The note also says that “the Republic of Belarus expects the reaction of the Ukrainian side in connection with the provocations that took place against the Honorary Consulate of the Republic of Belarus in Lviv and proceeds from the fact that acts of vandalism there will be properly investigated, will receive an appropriate assessment of the law enforcement agencies of Ukraine, and the perpetrators will be justly punished.”
