On the occasion of the Day of International Solidarity of Workers (Labor Day), which is celebrated on May 1, a rally was held in the capital of Ukraine. Approximately 1.5 thousand people attended the event. Among them were representatives of various professional unions of Ukraine, young people, and students.
The organizers of the event are the Kyiv City Council of Trade Unions and the Social Democratic Party (SDP). According to the initiators of the march, the purpose of this year’s campaign is to draw the attention of state and local authorities, employers and business to the needs of solving urgent problems of the “Labor Man”.
Rally participants passed along the Kiev main street (Khreshchatyk), from Bessarabskaya square to the European square.
For the period of the action traffic in the center was blocked on several streets. Several thousand police officers provided security of the rally.
