A competitive gas markets in Ukraine is possible if the entire volume of gas produced by Ukrgasvydobuvannya is sold on the exchange, which will allow Naftogaz, and other suppliers, and regional gas companies to have access on a competitive basis, said the acting director Minister Yuriy Boyko.
“Fulfillment of these conditions will greatly simplify the work of other gas suppliers, their number will increase. As a result, there will be an increase in competition on the market, an automatic reduction in prices and an increase in the quality of services,” Boyko said.
Acting Minister outlined the main trends in gas production in Ukraine. At the same time, he noted that in Ukraine the deep hydrocarbons require expensive means of geological exploration and further production. And in order to achieve the desired result, you need to invest heavily in exploration.
“We are finishing work on the preparation of production sharing agreements providing for the attraction of private investment in this sector,” Boyko said, noting that the current Ukrainian legislation does not answer a number of questions asked by investors to protect future investments.
He also added that, when considering the texts of production sharing agreements, along with critical remarks, a number of technical issues were processed with the involvement of specialists from related ministries and the Tax Service in order to write out rules for investors.
