Britain presents new coin to mark Brexit

British Finance Minister Sajid Javid has unveiled the first batch of new coins dedicated to the country’s withdrawal from the EU, DW reports.

The UK presented a 50 pence coin issued specially to mark country’s exit from the European Union. The coin bears the inscription “peace, prosperity and friendship with all nations” and the Brexit date set on January 31, 2020.

On January 31, about three million coins will enter circulation through the banks, post offices and shops. Another seven million are expected later the year.

Recall, on January 23, the bill on Britain’s exit from the European Union came into force after the approval of the document by Queen Elizabeth II. Before that, it went through all stages of approval in parliament.
