An ex-employee of the Ukrainian Embassy in South Africa is suspected in misappropriating UAH 1,500,000 of budget funds.
«The Kyiv Local Prosecutor’s Office No. 10 has declared to the former employee of the Embassy of Ukraine in the Republic of South Africa a suspect in illegally seizing the state budget funds (large-scale misappropriation),» – the press service of the prosecutor’s office reported.
It is noted that during a financial audit it became clear that while being on a long-term business trip in 2016-2017, a first-category specialist of the Embassy of Ukraine in South Africa, without any documentary justification, took over UAH 1,500,000 in state budget funds intended for the functioning of this diplomatic institution.
«Based on the results of the investigation, the former official was informed of the suspicion in committing a criminal offense under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (large-scale misappropriation of someone else’s property through abuse of office). In addition, the local prosecutor’s office claimed for the recovery of the entire amount of damage from the suspect,» – the department added.
