The government relied on data and forecasts from analysts from the National Security and Defense Council and the Ministry of Health, setting January 8 as the date for the introduction of stricter quarantine restrictions. This was stated by the Minister of the Cabinet of Ministers Oleh Nemchinov, reports Ukrinform.
“January 8 was chosen, taking into account the forecasts that were given by the analysts of the NSDC Secretariat and the Ministry of Health, who predicted this indicator before the peak. In this case, the previous forecasts were just after the New Year. We calculated the effect of the weekend quarantine, looked at what plateau we are at, respectively, not just in terms of morbidity, but in terms of bed occupancy, and suggested a date,” the message reads.
This time, Government will not shut down international traffic or completely stop transport within the country.
