Due to the possible use by Turkey of Canadian military equipment in the conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh, Canada has suspended the issuance of permits for the export of weapons to Turkey. Canadian Foreign Minister François-Philippe Champagne said this in Ottawa, Ukrinform reports.
“In accordance with the strict regime of control over the sale of weapons and given the constant clashes [in Nagorno-Karabakh – ed.], I temporarily stopped issuing proper export permits to Turkey in order to give time to better assess the situation,” the statement reads.
François-Philippe Champagne noted that in recent days have been expressed certain suspicions regarding the use of Canadian technologies in the military conflict in Nagorno-Karabakh.
