The Government of Canada will allocate funds in the amount of USD 7 million to combat domestic violence in Ukraine.

The project will provide money to 30 Ukrainian communities to prevent and response to sexual and gender-based violence. This was stated by the Ambassador of Canada to Ukraine Larisa Galadza at the opening of the exhibition “Rich u tim …” [the thing is …] dedicated to the problem of domestic violence, reports Ukrinform.

“Eliminating sexual and gender-based violence is a key priority for Canada both at home and here in Ukraine … At the national level, the project will also help national institutions to provide services to victims and will fund violence prevention programs,” the ambassador stressed.

Larisa Galadza noted that the project will be implemented by the United Nations Population Fund.

The diplomat added that the work will take place in close cooperation with the Ukrainian authorities and public organizations.
