China to provide USD 2bn of aid to countries affected by COVID-19

In the next two years, China will provide USD 2 billion of assistance to the countries affected by the coronavirus. This was stated by President Xi Jinping at the opening of the 73rd World Health Assembly, held in a video conference format, Xinhua reports.

Within two years, China will provide international assistance in the amount of USD 2 billion, aimed at supporting countries, especially developing countries, affected by the epidemic in their fight against coronavirus and the resumption of socio-economic development.

Xi Jinping considers it necessary to focus on the prevention and control of the epidemiological situation; support the leadership role of WHO; build support for African countries; strengthen global public health governance; restore social and economic development and intensify international cooperation.
