Kyiv Prosecutor’s Office revealed millions of abuses in the purchase of school equipment by officials of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine, the press service of the Kyiv prosecutor’s office reports.
«Security forces exposed and announced the suspicion to two officials of the structural units of Ministry of Education and Science of Ukraine on the fact of abuse of power or official position in the implementation of public procurement of school equipment», said in a statement.
It has been established that the officials of the structural units of Ministry of Education and Science, acting in interests of a private firm and with the aim of obtaining unlawful benefits, deliberately added to Model List of Training Aids and Equipment for Physics, Chemistry and Biology Classrooms in General Education Schools only one brand.
It is noted that «these actions created artificial obstacles for participation in tenders for purchase of school equipment of other participants, as well as ensured the victory in competition to the official representative of specified brand in Ukraine».
«According to investigation, as a result of non-transparent procurement, state budget suffered damage amounting to almost 5.5 million UAH. Also, a pre-trial investigation established that officials of the supplier company in the sale of equipment for budgetary funds, brought to the controlled enterprises in the offshore zone more than 17 million UAH», stressed in the prosecutor’s office.
As reported by the Journalist, an employee of the General Prosecutor’s Office was caught bribing $ 15,000.
