Following the processing of almost 100% of the ballots in Croatia, the incumbent head of state, Kolinda Grabar Kitarovic, took second place with a result of less than 27% of the vote.

She represented the “Croatian Democratic Commonwealth” right-wing conservative party.

At the same time, opposition candidate Zoran Milanovic, representing the Social Democratic Party, received 29.5% of the vote.

According to Euronews, the vote took place 10 days before the start of Croatia’s first EU presidency. Personnel diplomat Grabar Kitarovich, being the head of the foreign affairs agency, made great efforts to ensure that the country joins both NATO and the European Union.
