Since April, border and customs control procedures have been changed at the Smelnitsa and Grushev checkpoints on the border with Poland, the State Border Service of Ukraine reported.
It is noted that the approbation of technological procedures in pursuance of the requirements of the Cabinet of Ministers is being carried out, regarding the simplification of border and customs formalities for persons and vehicles to cross the state border.
“The changes regard sequence of implementation of border and customs control. Now when leaving Ukraine, travelers undergo passport control procedure first. The border guard enters information on persons and vehicles into the departmental database, than it will be automatically transferred to the database of customs officers. Therefore, there is no need for the customs inspector to re-enter this information. In addition, at the same time carried out border and customs vehicle inspection. This will allow to avoid duplication of functions and reducing the time required for crossing the border,” the message says.
As The Journalist reported, in order to confuse Polish border guards and get to Germany, the Ukrainian crossed the border moving backwards.
