The Czech government announced a lockdown in the country from October 22 to November 3, Radio Prague reports.

Thus, retail stores remain closed, and a significant part of the service sector will be suspended. From now on, hotels and guesthouses will not be able to receive guests arriving for recreation. However, the governmental order contains a number of exceptions.

“Only shops offering basic assortment remain open. In large shopping centers, citizens will be able to visit only grocery, as well as household and perfumery stores. Pharmacies will also remain open. The temporarily closed industries will receive state financial assistance,” the message reads.

Citizens were advised to limit social contacts and, if possible, work remotely. The free movement of citizens is also limited: it is only possible to perform work duties, visit hospitals and shops, as well as relatives in need of help. Walks in parks and gardens are also possible.

Czech Republic has introduced the mandatory wearing of protective masks in enclosed spaces, in transport and on the street.

“The government is rapidly expanding the number of beds in Czech hospitals, acquiring mechanical ventilation and attracting volunteer doctors and foreign specialists to work in Czech hospitals,” the newspaper notes.
