At the same time, according to journalist Yuriy Butusov, Hrymchak was detained while receiving a USD 480,000 bribe.

“The deputy minister for occupied territories, Yuriy Hrymchak, was detained while receiving a USD 480,000 bribe. This was the first part, in total Hrymchak demanded USD 1.1 million from a representative of a legal entity,” Butusov said, adding that the arrest was authorized by Lutsenko.

“According to the case materials, Hrymchak used his ties with the leadership of another ministry – the Office for the Protection of Cultural Heritage and Nature Reserves of the Ministry of Culture. This department, headed by Oleksandr Epifanov, has long been known for trading building permits in historically valuable places, primarily in Kyiv. Without such a permission, construction is illegal. It is about one signature, but expensive one. Hrymchak acted as a mediator in resolving the corruption issue,” the journalist noted.

“This is not the last suspicion to be brought up in this case,” Butusov concluded.
