The dismissed chairman of the Constitutional Court of Ukraine, Stanislav Shevchuk, considers his removal from office as a raider seizure and plans to appeal this decision in court.

Shevchuk announced this on the air of Hromadske.

“This is, actually, a raider seizure of the post of chairman of the Constitutional Court, since the procedures, laws and regulations were violated,” Shevchuk stressed.

The former head of the Constitutional Court explained that other judges cannot dismiss the head of the Constitutional Court unless he resigns himself.

“I was fired as a judge. Now there are 18 judges, already 17, but I hope temporarily. I will sue this decision. The chairman of the court and the judge are two different statuses. It is impossible to dismiss me as a chairman on the initiative of the judges, I can be dismissed only as a judge for disciplinary offense. All the accusations that have been made to me do not concern me as a judge: I consider cases, and everything is fine, but they concern some aspects of my management activities. That is, charges are brought to me as chairman, and I was dismissed as judge,” Shevchuk believes.

As The Journalist reported, Shevchuk was dismissed from his post as head of the Constitutional Court for “public statements with political content”.
