EBRD plans to allocate EUR 50 mln loan for purchase 50 cars for new metro line in Kyiv

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) may allocate EUR 50 million loan for the Kyiv Metro municipal enterprise to finance the purchase of 50 cars for the new metro line.

This is stated on the EBRD website, ua.news reports.

The Board of Directors of the EBRD will decide on the allocation of funding on September 18 this year.

The project is aimed at solving critical problems (congestion, air pollution, quality of public transport services) and development of Kyiv city transport.

The project also is part of the Green City Framework 2 (GrCF2), which aims to address environmental issues in selected major cities in the Bank’s countries of operation.

“The main goal is to achieve a significant environmental improvement. The GrCF2 also aims to build necessary capacity and facilitate better coordination within the relevant cities in order improve the governance, operational efficiency and financial sustainability of the targeted investments and initiatives,” the report says.
