In the village of Shevchenkovo, Kiliya raion (Odessa oblast), has been announced quarantine in educational institutions today due to the number of children with measles has increased up to 40.

As of the evening of January 19, there were 14 sick children. According to Pavlo Boychenko, head of the Kiliya United Territorial Communitie, all necessary measures are being taken in connection with the situation in the village, Dumskaya writes.

“The number of measles cases in Shevchenkovo has reached 40, another 10 cases are waiting to be confirmed, but there is no doubt that the diagnosis will be confirmed. From now on, quarantine has been introduced in the educational institutions of the village and in the ‘Topolek’ kindergarten,” said Boychenko.

The head of the Kiliya United Territorial Communitie stressed that the outbreak of measles in the village is a consequence of the parents’ irresponsibility, who ignored numerous warnings and calls of health workers for vaccination.

According to the Bessarabiainform publication, measles cases in the Kiliya United Territorial Communitie gave a serious complication – two children from the village of Shevchenkovo were urgently sent to the intensive care unit of the regional infectious diseases hospital. This was announced by the chief doctor of the Kiliya Central District Hospital Viktor Shteheran.
