Erdogan congratulated oppositionist with victory in Istanbul’s mayoral election

Re-election of the mayor of Istanbul was held in Turkey, in which the opposition representative Ekrem Imamoglu won. The President had to congratulate the opposition candidate on his victory. This is reported by Anadolu.

According to the results of the counting of 99.37% of the ballots, Imamoglu gets 54.03% of the votes. 45.09% of voters voted for the pro-government candidate Binali Yıldırım.

“Congratulations to Ekrem Imamoglu, who, according to the unofficial results, has won the elections”, wrote the head of the Turkish state on his Twitter.

We recall, Erdogan was unhappy with the results of the first election. He claimed fraud and irregularities in the elections in March, when an opposition candidate also had won.
