As The Journalist reported earlier, US sanctions have drove down the national currencies of Turkey and Russia.

In this manner, Recep Tayyip Erdogan, Turkey’s president, put forward new charges against the US Administration.

«They are threatening us, You cannot bring [the Turkish – ed.] people to their knees by using a threatening language,» – Erdogan said on Saturday, August 11, speaking in the Black Sea province of Ordu.

The Turkish Head of State called on fellow citizens to help support the national currency, DW news agency reports.

«If there are dollars or euros under your pillow, take them out, immediately give these to the banks and convert to Turkish lira and by doing this, we fight this war of independence and the future. Because they understand this language,» – Erdogan said.

Turkey is preparing to switch to payments in national currency with its largest trading partners: China, Russia, Iran and Ukraine. The Turkish leader noted that if European countries also want to get rid of the dollar’s «shackles», then Ankara is ready to switch to similar calculations in trade with them too.

In addition, Erdogan threatens to «say goodbye» to the US and «turn to new partners and alliances,» – Anadolu news agency writes.

«We will say bye bye to those, who sacrifice their strategic partnership and alliance with a country of 81 million people on the altar of their relations with terror organizations,» – Erdogan summed up.
