November 9, Estonian Interior Minister Mart Helme announced that he is resigning because of the criticism that fell upon him after his statements that the results of the presidential elections in the United States were falsified, Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“I decided to resign, looking at this slander and lies spread by the Estonian media,” said Helme, adding that in criticizing the US election campaign, he acted as a free media in Estonia that “biased election coverage”.
According to him, “journalism in Estonia does not tell the people the truth about what all the US media are talking about.”
“… And I did it – the elections were rigged. I honestly talked about it, and now I’m a big criminal? Are you kidding? You bullied Trump for four years, didn’t it harm Estonia’s security?” stressed the head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
Helme said that he was leaving to work as a member of parliament and expressed confidence that the coalition would not fall apart because of him.
On the eve of November 8, the Interior Minister and his son, Chairman of the Conservative People’s Party, Finance Minister Martin Helme, in an interview with Tre Raadio radio, questioned the honesty of the presidential elections held in the United States. According to Mart Helme, Joe Biden was elected president of America by the “deep state.”
