President of the European Council Donald Tusk said that the European Union is set to continue to support Ukraine under the presidency of Volodymyr Zelensky, who, according to exit polls, leads the presidential elections in Ukraine.
Tusk reported this on Twitter:
“A decisive day for Ukraine. Free elections and peaceful change of power = strong Ukrainian democracy. Congratulations to Volodymyr Zelensky. The EU is determined to continue its support.”
In addition, the Commissioner for European Neighborhood Policy and the EU enlargement negotiations, Johannes Hahn, voiced priority expectations from the Zelensky presidency.
The European Commissioner Han wrote this on Twitter:
“I congratulate the Ukrainian people on their show of democratic maturity and the President elect, Volodymyr Zelensky, on his victory. This result is a very strong mandate to fight corruption more vigourosly and to free the state from oligarchic state capture.”
