EU Commissioner Hahn invited Zelensky to Brussels

The Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Johannes Hahn invited the newly elected President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, to make his first visit to Brussels.

According to the press service of Zelensky, Hahn also offered assistance in negotiations on gas relations with Russia, in particular, in the context of the contract expiration for the transit of Russian gas at the end of this year.

Zelensky assured that “Ukraine made her European choice and it is uncontested.”

“I, as a guarantor of the Constitution, will defend the path chosen by the citizens of Ukraine at the elections,” said Zelensky.

“Our priority is not combating corruption, but defeating it. De-monopolization in the energy sector, ‘de-oligarchization’ in the media,” said the new president of Ukraine and announced his readiness to return the article on illegal enrichment to became criminalized again in Ukraine.

The parties also discussed the conflict in the eastern Ukraine.

“Our goal is to stop the fire,” Zelensky said.

As The Journalist reported, Zelensky was offered a new date of inauguration.
