The EU Council extended the EU economic sanctions related to the financial, energy and defense sectors of Russia until January 31, 2010.
This is stated by the message on the EC website, as Interfax-Ukraine reports.
“On June 27, 2019, the EU Council extended the economic sanctions aimed at specific sectors of the Russian economy until January 31, 2020”, the report says.
Thus, the decision of the leaders of the states and governments of the EU member states, adopted at the EU summit on June 20, was officially approved.
The decision was taken after hearing the updated information from German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Emmanuel Macron on the state of implementation of the Minsk agreements, which is linked to the continuation of sanctions.
The sanctions measures relate to the financial, energy and defense sectors of the Russian Federation, as well as the use of dual-use goods.
