This statement was made by the Czech Foreign Minister Tomas Petršíček, European Pravda reports.

“Now we are more concerned with the search for dialogue, not with more pressure, as the Russian Federation is,” said Petršíček.

The same position was confirmed by the the Romanian Minister Theodore Melescanu, who noted that the Ukrainians do not need new sanctions against Russia either.

“This will create problems for Ukraine itself,” said Melescanu, but did not clarify what these problems are.

However, a part of the EU member states still advocate tougher sanctions.

Thus, the Lithuanian Foreign Minister Linas Linkiavicius said that the issuance of Russian passports is a violation of international law and should lead to a new sanctions.

“We must introduce personal sanctions against the Russians involved in passing the decision, and also decide that the EU does not recognize these passports,” said Estonian Minister Urmas Reinsalu.

As The Journalist reported, Russian passports will be issued primarily to the security forces of the “LNR/DNR”.
