The European Union has prepared a package of proposals for reforming the World Health Organization. The package calls for WHO to take steps to improve transparency in tracking Member countries’ compliance with health regulations, Reuters reports.
The document contains a “plan to address WHO’s funding, governance and legal mandate deficiencies”. The document provides for increasing the transparency of the mechanism of cooperation with member countries. These measures should include ensuring the rapid exchange of information on health emergencies between Member States.
Among the problems mentioned in the document, the European Union notes the lack of predictable and sustainable funding for the organization and the lack of transparency of its work in general.
The project is designed for several months in advance.
