According to the new EU hydrogen strategy, Ukraine is named the EU’s priority partner in implementing the European hydrogen strategy and supplying the latest energy resources to the European market due to its potential in the production and transportation of hydrogen.

“A historic event took place in Brussels: the presentation of the European Hydrogen Strategy, which begins a new technological revolution in Europe. The EU has hopes for Ukraine as one of the priority partners in the supply of hydrogen to Europe,” Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said.

As you know, the hydrogen strategy is an integral part of the European Green Agreement. This ambitious initiative aims to turn Europe into the first climate neutral continent until 2050. For its implementation, the EU plans to reduce the amount of carbon emissions by 100 million tons annually and finally abandon fossil fuels.

The European Commission separately identifies Ukraine as a priority partner in the development of hydrogen energy, taking into account its natural resources, the interconnectedness of infrastructure and technological development. The European Commission also encourages the involvement of Ukraine, among other countries, in the Pure Hydrogen Alliance and to develop cooperation with Ukraine for the production of renewable electricity and hydrogen.

The total volume of investments in renewable hydrogen in Europe by 2050 can range from EUR 180 billion to EUR 470 billion. According to analysts, hydrogen can satisfy up to 24% of the global energy demand by 2050, and the volume of money in the global hydrogen energy market will amount to run up to EUR 630 billion.
