The European Union welcomes the decision of certain countries to join restrictive measures against actions that undermine or threaten the territorial integrity, sovereignty and independence of Ukraine, the EU Delegation to Ukraine said.

The candidate countries Montenegro and Albania, Liechtenstein and Norway, belonging to the European Free Trade Association and the European Economic Area, have joined the EU Council Decision (on 10 September 2020, the EU Council adopted Decision 2020/1269 amending Decision 2014/145 / CFSP) on the extension of anti-Russian sanctions for undermining Ukraine’s sovereignty for six months (until March 15, 2021).

“They will ensure that their government policies are in line with this Council Decision. The European Union takes note of these commitments and welcomes them. Montenegro and Albania continue to be part of the stabilization and association process,” the EU High Representative said in a statement on behalf of the European Union.
