European Union has postponed negotiations on EU membership of Northern Macedonia and Albania

The European Union postponed the start of negotiations on of Northern Macedonia and Albania EU joining until the end of the year.

The European Council said about it after a meeting of foreign ministers of the EU member states in Luxembourg, as Radio Svoboda reports.

The conclusions of the meeting said that the Council of Europe will return to this issue before October 2019.

Against the background of some EU members’ resistance, in particular, France and the Netherlands, the leaders of Northern Macedonia and Albania declared about reforms implementation in their countries that Brussels demanded.

As The Journalist reported, the EU will suspend visa-free regime for the countries of the Western Balkans and Latin America.
