A large criminal group of arms dealers has been exposed in Spain. There are Ukrainians among the detainees, the official statement of Europol reports.
The detention took place on November 12 in the Spanish regions of Alicante, Barcelona and Valencia. The investigation has continued since 2018. During the special operation, property and funds for EUR 10 million were seized.
Among the seven arrested were citizens of Spain, Latvia and Ukraine. They are suspected of illegally transporting weapons and explosives on merchant ships through Ukraine to conflict zones in northern Africa and the Middle East.
“Arms dealers transported weapons and heavy weapons, including tanks, across the Mediterranean,” the report said.
It is noted that the exacerbation of contradictions between the leaders of the group contributed to the detention of law enforcement officers.
