Russia seeks to convince Washington to give it freedom of action in Ukraine. In return, Moscow will not prevent Washington from overcoming the Nicholas Maduro regime in Venezuela.
This is stated in the article by Stephen Blank, an analyst at the American Foreign Policy Council, published in The Hill, Voice of America reports.
The Russian Federation also proposes Washington to resume negotiations on the arms control regime and extend the New START agreement [nuclear arms reduction treaty between the United States and the Russian Federation signed in 2010 and designed for 10 years – ed.].
According to Blank, the President Trump, believing himself exonerated by the Mueller report, can now freely improve relations with Moscow.
However, the author sharply criticizes this approach.
“Let us remember that Russia’s armies (including so-called separatists, who are really Moscow’s auxiliaries in Ukraine) invaded the Crimea and the Donbas and committed the most naked aggression since Saddam Hussein invaded Kuwait,” the expert noted.
At the same time, Blank stressed that in Venezuela, the issue is not so much Russian forces but Cuban forces.
As The Journalist reported, Washington recalls US ambassador to Ukraine Jovanovitch.
