Social network Facebook is to be fined $ 660 thousand, the maximum amount possible, for cooperation with Cambridge Analytica. This is reported by The Guardian.

«Facebook has failed to provide the kind of protections they are required to under the Data Protection Act. Fines and prosecutions punish the bad actors, but my real goal is to effect change and restore trust and confidence in our democratic system», – said Information Commissioner Elizabeth Denham.

Note, that Facebook appears in the scandal with the company Cambridge Analytica. It is believed that the Cambridge Analytica could illegally receive personal information of as many as 87 million users and affect the election of many countries in the world, including the US in 2016.
As «The Journalist» reported earlier, Facebook said the number of users affected by Cambridge Analytica data leak is 87 million.
