Finland reports ‘serious’ accident at NPP

Due to a serious emergency at the NPP, the second power unit was shut down.

In the Finnish city of Olkiluoto, an emergency situation occurred at a nuclear power plant, as a result of which the second power unit of the nuclear power plant was turned off. The authorities assure that the radiation situation is normal, there are no emissions. This was announced by the Finnish Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK).

“The Radiation and Nuclear Safety Authority (STUK) received information on December 10 at about 13 PM about a serious emergency at the second unit of the Olkiluoto nuclear power plant, which led to an emergency shutdown. The radiation from the nuclear power plant did not get into the environment, and the radiation situation in the environment is normal,” the message says.

The station owner, Teollisuuden Voima, said the incident was under investigation.
