The first direct container train between Wuhan (China) and Kyiv arrived at Ukrainian railroad station Kyiv-Leski, Interfax-Ukraine reports.

Train transported 43 forty-foot containers with magnesium sulfate, equipment, aluminum frames, disposable syringes, PET bottles, and other products of light industry.

“We hope this route will be weekly. It will be dictated by the demand of the business. The first deliveries are light industry items. Regarding the opposite direction – well, let’s see what demand among Ukrainian companies will be,” the acting Head of UZ Ivan Yurik said.

At the same time, according to the Minister of Infrastructure Vladyslav Kryklii, in order for container transportation to be even more convenient, interesting and competitive, it is necessary to develop not only this transport railway corridor, but also digital ones.

“That is why, together with my colleagues at a government meeting, I will raise the issue of developing digital corridors so that customs clearance will be simplified and everything will be done with maximum digitalization. This is the next step, so that rail transport will reach a new level,” Kryklii emphasized.

It should be noted that the train route is 9,500 km long; it departed from Wuhan on June 16. The travel time will last 15 days.
