On June 17, Germany, France and Spain signed an agreement on the launch of European largest defense project.
The agreement was signed in the framework of the Paris Air Show at Le Bourget by the defense ministers of the three countries, as well as by the French President Emmanuel Macron, the Deutsche Welle reported.
The defense project provides for an analysis of the feasibility of the project to make an assessment of the technical solution and the possible cost of the new system. The German defense minister said that this was a “big step forward” for the implementation of a new defense project.
It is known that the future air combat system should be launched by 2040. The system includes not only individual combat aircraft, but also a whole system of detachments accompanying UAVs, along with flagship and patrol aircraft, ground stations and satellites. The project cost is estimated at EUR 50 billion.
As The Journalist reported, Germany will increase the defense budget by EUR 2 billion in 2020.
