Ambassador of France to Ukraine Etienne de Poncins has said that France is ready to send its peacekeeping forces to Donbas as part of a UN mission. He said this in an interview with the “The Day” newspaper.
Poncins stressed that France has experience in peacekeeping operations like this, but the introduction of peacekeepers is not always an immediate solution to the problem. The peacekeeping mission, according to the ambassador, may be in the conflict zone for decades, without any result.
“If we see the necessity, expediency and effectiveness of such a solution, then, no doubt, France will not avoid its international obligations as a member of the international community, a member of the UN Security Council,” Poncins said.
