French military aircraft conducted a simulation of a deterrent nuclear strike. It is reported by Reuters, citing a representative of the French Air Force, Colonel Cyrille Duvivier.
“The 11-hour mission, which included refueling, tested all phases of an attack mission involving a Rafale warplane,” the report said.
It is noted that during the simulation, a real rocket without a warhead was launched. In this regard, such simulations are not performed very often, but on a regular basis.
Note that France annually spends about EUR 3.5 billion to maintain its 300-nuclear reserves of underwater and airborne nuclear weapons.
