The volume of Russian gas transit through the gas transmission system of Ukraine on October 4 reached 40 billion cubic meters since the beginning of the year, according to the Gas Transmission System Operator of Ukraine (GTSOU).

“We have a round figure – we have transported 40 billion cubic meters of Russian gas to European countries since the beginning of this year. As of the morning of October 4, we transported 174 million cubic meters per day. Is it a lot or a little? This is the maximum expected volume that is now stipulated by the contract with Gazprom for the entire 2020,” the message reads.

Thus, GTSOU fully meets its obligations to ensure uninterrupted gas transportation to the EU countries, Moldova and Ukrainian consumers.

“The Ukrainian GTS can transport significantly more natural gas, and we are in constant search of new market products and services that can provide even more guarantees of energy security to Ukrainians and our partners in the EU. We are closely watching the development of events in Germany regarding the Nord Stream-2 project and we hope that our partners will see the potential to increase the use of the existing infrastructure, as declared by all EU documents,” OGTSU General Director Serhii Makohon stressed.
